Top-seeded Russian tennis star Nikolay Davydenko has won the Malayasia Open, defeating Spaniard Ferando Verdasco.

It took the Russian just two sets. He grabbed the first 6-4, and the second 7-5.

It is Davydenko’s third title this season after winning the German and Croatian Opens. However, the tournament in Kuala Lumpur, which earned him $154,000, is very special for the Russian as it is his first big victory on Asian soil.

Davydenko earned 250 points in the ATP rankings, with Verdasco earning 150 points. Both players are seeking one of three available spots for the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals in London in November.

There will be no rest for Davydenko anytime soon, as he packs his bags and heads to Beijing now for this week's China Open.
