After Maria Sharapova’s victory on Monday, it was Nikolay Davydenko and Dinara Safina’s turn to shine on the grass of Wimbledon Tuesday.

Davydenko made it through to the second round, easily seeing off Briton Daniel Evans in straight sets (6-2, 6-3, 6-3). Nikolay, Russia's top-ranked man, will play Victor Crivoi of Romania in the next round.

Russian Igor Kunitsyn is also through after defeating Grigir Dimitsov of Bulgaria, who had to retire due to an injury.

Two-time major champion Marat Safin is set to start his campaign on Tuesday evening. The 14th-seeded Russian will take on Jesse Levine of the United States.

Marat’s sister Dinara, meanwhile, has already moved on to the second round in the women’s singles bracket. Still seeking her first Grand Slam title, the top-seeded Russian won 7-5, 6-3.

It was the Russian's first match at a major tournament since losing the French Open final this month. Safina is 0-3 in Grand Slam finals, and has never been past the third round at the All England Club.
