These fighting tecniques may seem good to the uneducated but in fact they would be useless against a real attack with a weapon. In fact all martial arts are lacking in reality as they are chorreographed. The only self defence system that stands up to scrutiny is The Machine, a system devised by a covert group who were active in the late 1950s. Anyone facing a knife or any weapon would not be able to stop it for this simple reason - an attacker has a large target when you face him head on and can deceive you with a fainted attack, The Machine eliminates the area that an opponent can attack you from. The KGB would have had the most deadly and best anti terrorist system in the world if they took up this form of unarmed combat. The man who teaches this system will challenge anyone in the world to test it against any other system. As I have seen it first hand there would only be one winner The Machine. This system has been sort after by such elite groups as the SAS, The Egyption Special Forces and the Soth African riot Police.

Hey Stan why don't you post advertisements of your " The Machine" on your own site instead of critiquing what you don't know and have not seen. I, unlike you, was at the event on Sunday. It was awesome. I enjoyed that competition from the beginning to end. The planners had the crowd entertained from the start. The Russian and Kazakstan teams put together a small demonstration at the beginning so that folks in the stands have an idea of what the Hand to Hand fighting techniques are all about. Then right away they started with the competition. It was broken down by weight categories and the fighters wore some protective gear. You can tell that there was strategy involved from the get go. There was no swining for the fences and hope to connect. These guys had a game plan set in the minds ahead of time and were executing it with perfection. The fighting were happening back to back. I think there might have been just 3 minutes between the matches so you did not see anyone snoring or going out to get a bite to eat. Non stop action. I really feel that this is the type of combat martial arts which could have a great future in the States and worldwide. It brings the action and safety all in one. I would like to thank the participants and the staff from bringing this great style to the States. Spasibo! John.

So when the attacker is being kicked away, how is he going to deal with the other guys attacking him from behind at the same time ?? Its not like it is in the movies were they all wait for there turn to attack !! Plus because he his not bringing him onto the kick it will most likely have minimum effect so he will come back for a second attack (as proven in the video !!) I do not doubt you were entertained by this SPORT but this will only work in a ring with rules !!! Plus they have shown the world what they have by putting it on the internet. A bit stupid im my eyes. I have seen the The Urwin Machine in action and it makes any other martial arts and combat systems obsloite. John Urwin is the real deal and worth researching.

This video seems like other martial arts like Muay thai and kickboxing it may be more entertaining than the UFC cage fighting seems to be less groundwork.Have a look at the others out there they are very similar in style ie punching/kicking and some grappling. I`m sure it is good entertainment however it is a sport with rules. There may be another side to this like commando Krav Maga /Russian martial arts/combatives but all these are basically the same and even when you remove the rules it becomes street fighting great for a brawl but limited for Military and Law enforcement.

If you look at today`s news read the story of a world champion kickboxer who was murdered. Unfortunatly this event proves my point the martial arts are limited to the dojo or the ring and have no place in real self defence especially against armed attacks.
