It is exactly 150 years since rowing was first introduced to Russia. To mark the anniversary, an event once regarded as one of the best of its kind in the world – the Moscow Regatta – has been brought back to life.

The International Grand Moscow Regatta was held in Russia's capital over the weekend. One of the oldest and most famous sporting events to take place in the city saw ten rowing nations competing in eleven disciplines.

Wow. Thanks for the great article, I didn't know that the first Royal Henry Regatta was in 1839! That is so cool. I would love to see a regatta, but I have yet to find one in my area. Any ideas how I can figure out when they are?
