Evgeny Pluschenko has recorded the highest ever score awarded in figure skating at the Russian Cup in Perm as the Russian comes out of retirement to defend the gold he won four years ago.
I am concerned where are the upcoming Russian skaters? Whatever you were doing before to create such great skaters, I wish you would do it again! You had Urmanov, Kulik, Abt, Yagudin, Plushenko...all of them arguably the greatest male skaters ever (my vote goes to Kulik as the all time greatest male skater ever) then nada. I remember their jumps were so perfect..."proper backspin position in the air" to DIE FOR (unlike Mr. Stojko who leaned in the air and was so sloppy). I wish Plushenko well, and am so grateful to him for all the great memories he gave to me and my daughter. For one thing, when I saw that 4/3/2 the first time, I just about jumped up and shouted! That was FUN! But I wish a whole slew of Russian skaters would emerge again, because I ADORE Russian skating.

Great to see him back, technically he has it all, his quad toe, triple toe, double loop combination was certainly the breaking of new ice. I haven't seen him skate in a while, but hope he has kept the technical difficulty up and has something special to offer in Vancouver. I think it is a huge challenge to come back in any sport, and sometimes it is a huge mistake, but I hope it all goes well for him. When you consider his humble start in life, it really shows what talent, dedication and the right training environment can deliver.
