The new world record for highest speed on a tractor has been set in Russia’s Rostov region over the weekend.
Driver Sergey Sukhovenko reached 121 kilometers per hour behind the wheel of his tractor on a frozen lake surface not far from the Kiselevo village.
If not for snow cover reaching 10 centimeters that day, Sukhovenko could’ve reached an even greater pace.
It’s worth mentioning that the previous record in the class has never exceeding the 100-km/h mark.
The record-breaking vehicle was built on the frame of a 25-year-old – Soviet era – Belarus Tractor, which saw its motor, transmission and fuel injection equipment upgraded.
The speedy field-engine is expected to race against an SUV as part of the Bison-Track Racing Tractor Show 2012, which is to take in Rostov-on-Don in May.

Fully agree with you. As we have discussed in previous posts, the propaganda machine of the West has always played on Russophobia. In a way I could understand if propaganda is directed against the government and not against the people. But the West is a master at spin, and their propaganda tool is to confuse people as much as possible. That's why you find total ignorants in the West who have that aura of superiority and self-satisfaction. This is the fanatically ignorant kind of person who will be so proud to show you his new mobile phone or new pair of trainers or TV set as if he is the only one in the world to have it and then he can't even feed his family properly because he has not got enough money to do that. Also this is the sort of person who does not even know who Lev Tolstoj was. Funnily enough this is also the kind of person who in 2003 thought that in Iraq it was easier to buy WMDs in local shops than bread. I have met quite a few people like them in different EU countries where I have lived and worked.
So again to people like this, who believe blindly in anything the corporate media of the west say, I tell them carry on living in your sinking dreamland of bail outs, ACTAs and recession, you anti-BRICs losers LOL LMAO
Oops! Good comment. Also do not forget Russophobia- the fear of Russia and the Russians in the West has been historically- and continue to be- a clever strategy to displace and mask deeply held envy of the Russians and Russia by the West. You also know the line between hate and envy is very thin. Just read some old archival documents to see of how traumatized average U.S citizens felt when Soviet Union sent the first Sputnik to space. But ask yourself why was average U.S citizens surprised of this event since only less than a decade earlier the Soviet Union won WWII and defeat the greatest war machine in the world. The problem is the average Americans was convinced and they are still convinced that the U.S. won WWII.. The West needs to misrepresent Russia to feel good of itself. The Russians should focus less on convincing the West; instead, Russia should focus on emerging world-where no such anti-Russia hate or envy is strong if it exists at all. Russia should focus on spreading its commerce; culture and films to Latin America; Africa and Asia and stop focusing on the West.

And about the BRICS countries:
