Starting from pole becomes Brawn GP’s tradition

Formula 1 season leader Brawn GP have claimed yet another pole position as Jenson Button set the fastest time at the qualification for Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix.

The leader of the driver’s championship lapped the Catalunya circuit in Barcelona in 1m 20.527s in Q3. Redbull’s Redbull’s Sebastian Vettel showed the second fastest time.

Button’s teammate, Rubens Barrichello, will start from the second row, accompanied by Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, who won the morning’s final practice session.

Another Red Bull driver Mark Webber finished with the 5th-best time and Toyota's Timo Glock – 6th.

Home favorite Fernando Alonso from Renault ended the session with the 8th fastest time, while defending champ Lewis Hamilton was only 14th.

Britain’s Jenson Button tops the drivers' championship with 31 points, having won three out of four races on the season. Rubens Barrichello is second with 19 points, and German Sebastian Vettel is in third with 18 points.

Brawn-Mercedes enjoys a commanding lead in the team competition. They have 51 points, while their closest rivals, Red Bull-Renault, has earned just 27.5.
