Resistance is building against the proposed changes to the sport of Formula One with Renault being the latest team to threaten their withdrawal.
The French outfit has joined Red Bull, Toyota, and F1's oldest member Ferrari in saying they won't enter next year's championship if new budget-capping rules are introduced.
Ferrari in particular has been angered by plans to introduce an optional 60 million dollar budget cap next season. Those teams who accept the cap will be allowed greater flexibility in car design.
Ferrari claim this will result in a two-tier championship, between those who adopt the cap and those who don't.
Crunch talks between the teams and FIA chief Max Mosley are scheduled for this week.
The clock is ticking as the deadline to register for next season's championship is set for May 29.
