Motorsports governing body elects new president

Former Ferrari boss Jean Todt was elected as the new president of world motorsports’ governing body the FIA on Friday, replacing Max Mosley in the position.

FIA president Max Mosley says the attempted breakaway of eight teams from Formula 1 has been avoided and that they will take part in 2010 championships, AP news agency reports.
Some of Formula 1 top drivers and teams could be racing under a different moniker as early as next year.
The Russian leg of the European Truck Racing championships has taken place in the city of Smolensk. The drivers battled it out on a brand new track created by architect Herman Tilke, known for his Formula One designs.
The current leader of the World Touring Car Championships, Yvan Muller, has been on a visit to Moscow for the International Motor Show. RT caught up with the 2008 champion.
