Massa to wave checkered flag in Brazil

Felipe Massa will be the man in charge of waving the checkered flag at the Brazilian Grand Prix next week, organizers say.

The Ferrari driver has been out of action since being injured during a life-threatening crash during qualifiers at the Hungarian Grand Prix two months ago. Massa, who is currently rehabilitating in Brazil, will miss the next race in Sao Paolo.

He will have a bit of consolation in Interlagos though, as he will be waving the flag after Ferrari confirmed it had accepted the invitation from the race organizers.

Thus, Massa will most likely mark the championship for Jenson Button. The British driver, who is leading the pack in the overall standings by 14 points, needs to earn just six points in Brazil to claim his first F1 crown – a goal that seems more than possible for him.

Meanwhile, Massa claims he could return to action for this season's final race in Abu Dhabi on November 1. The Brazillian says he wants to drive again, regardless of his performance.
