KAMAZ aim for another Dakar win as legendary race takes start

The Dakar 2010 Rally madeits start in the Argentinean capital, Buenos Aires on Friday. And the Russian KAMAZ-Master Truck team say it is nothing but victory that they will be looking for in the event.
"We have been preparing for the race a whole year and hope to win. But we have serious rivals, for example, the Tatra team that comprises four vehicles," Semyon Yakubov, Russian team leader, told RIA-Novosti news agency.
The Russian team already has eight victories in the legendary off-road race.
Three trucks, driven by Firdaus Kabirov, Vladimir Chagin and Ilgizar Mardeev, represent KAMAZ in Argentina and Chilie.
Dakar is being held for the 31st time this year. The race is taking place in South America for the second successive time, and will run from January 1 to 16. The race left Africa after 2008 due to safety reasons.
Teams from 50 countries in 52 trucks, on 160 motorcycles and in 138 cars are taking part in the race, which kicked off from the Obelisk on Buenos Aires's central 9th of July Avenue on New Year's Day, with 250.000 spectators present.
The total racing distance is 9,030 km (5,610 miles) for cars and trucks, and 8,937 km (5,553 miles) for bikes and ATVs. Seven stages will take place in Argentina, and seven more in Chile.
