Brawn GP's Rubens Barrichello has won the European Grand Prix in his first Formula One victory in five years.
The 37-year-old took maximum points after a clumsy pit stop by Lewis Hamilton's McLaren team to give his championship hopes a boost. The win was the 10th in the Brazilian’s career and first since the 2004 Chinese GP.
Hamilton, who had started the Valencia street circuit race from pole position, finished second ahead of Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen.
Overall season leader Jenson Button came seventh to see his championship lead cut to 18 points over teammate Barrichello. Red Bull's Mark Webber finished ninth and closed the margin between him and Button to 20.5 points.
Luca Badoer, who is filling in for injured Ferrari driver Felipe Massa, claimed 17th place after starting last.
