Garry Kasparov has beaten his archrival Anatoly Karpov in a three-day match in Valencia, which the two Russian chess masters played to mark the 25th anniversary of their first clash for the sport’s crown.

Superb top-class event in Valencia with spell-binding matches between the most emblematic contemporary chess genii - firstly Garry Kasparov and secondly, but no less meritorious, Anatoli Karpov. Thanks to this excellent promotion, at the end of the day the great game of chess became the ultimate victor surely providing both star players with an enormous sense of satisfaction knowing that the successive event in Paris in December will be greeted with even more enthusiasm and expectation! Hopefully the French organisers will be able to cope more successfully with the demand than the official Valencian website at gva.es has done.... in respect of the vast amount of internauters who will want to watch the next Kasparov/Karpov event..... LIVE! Moreover, the quality of the English language translation of the official website of Valencia also left much to be desired. Last but not least, Valencia is the name of a city/province but not a country. It is geographically situated inside the country of Catalonia (Catalunya). In Catalonia, there are two official languages, one being Castellano (Spanish) and the other being Catalan, of course, (an historic language of Latin origin). Valencia is simply the name of a city/province within Catalonia, in the same way as Barcelona, Tarragona or Girona for example. Therefore, in respect of such an important chess event with international repercussion, the official website of the Generalitat of Valencia should have offered alternative language versions to their on-line info not only in Spanish and English but also in Catalan, not "Valencian"!!! In any case visitors to Catalonia will discover that Catalonian people are normally bi-lingual anyway without any trouble at all because they speak both Catalán and Spanish as aforementioned.
