Team Russia has thrashed Canada in the Ice Hockey World Championships quarterfinals to increase their winning streak at world champs to 26 consecutive victories.
Relax Mike ! This is JUST ANOTHER SPORT ....for Russians ! ... O , by the way my Friend .....want to ask You , what makes Olimpics (hockey in Olimpics i mean) So terribly higher and much more prestigious then Worlds .....probably it is just the way YOU THINK in N.Amerika ? ....
Congratulations, beautiful ice hockey. Wonderful to see Russia kick canadian a$$´D
Congratulations to Russia, although I as a German am kinda scared for the semifinal right now. So far, the Game against Germany was imho the only one were Ovechkin and co actually had to work, however, I cant really see how Germany could do more than make it a hard fight, hmmm, gotta make some offerings to various luck gods, bribe the referees (damn why is Germany a not so corrupt country! In South Africa, Ref bribing will be much cheaper!) and spike the Russian teams Energy Drinks with various psycholdelic substances (I have the gut feeling that Alcohol wont work though ;D ). Cant we Krauts play the Czechs or the Swedes pretty please? Concerning North America, the absence of North Americans in the final 4 is quite amusing imho. Although having the USA demoted didnt happen (which would have made not only my day I guess).

Congratulations to the Russian - they have some great players at this tourney, most of their best, including my favorite Datsyuk of my Red Wings. But in my opinion saying "And on Wednesday Russians have now got even with the Canadiens" is quite a stretch. I think most fans would agree that the the Olympic gold with best-on-best competition is 10x more important than the world championship gold. And I say that even though Canada had made the gold medal game at 6 of the 7 world championships prior to this. Nonetheless, like I said before, congratulations, and Russia should win the gold here and I hope they do. But it won't be until Socchi '14 that Russia has a chance to avenge the 7-3 blowout at the hands of Canada in February.
