Metallurg Magnitogorsk have taken full advantage of an opportunity to become the third team to reach the semi-finals of the Gagarin cup, beating Atlant 4-2 in the fourth game of the series.
The game was level at two-all with 15 minutes to play in the third period when Alexey Kaigorodov gave Metallurg the vital lead.
Atlant put all their effort into grabbing an equalizer but instead conceded another goal in the dying seconds after replacing their goalkeeper with a field player.
After losing the opener of the series in overtime, Magnitogorsk managed to best Atlant three games in a row. They now join Dinamo Moscow and Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the quarterfinals.
The last team to play in the final four will be decided in the match between AK Bars Kazan and Avangar Omsk, scheduled for Monday. Their series is now tied two-all.
