Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeny Malkin is not only improving his English, but is also giving his teammates some language lessons, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Canadians Sydney Crosby and Maxime Talbot will have less difficulty making the Russian players lose their nerve during the anticipated Canada – Russia clash at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, as they now know how to swear in Russian.
Evgeny Malkin said he taught them “just bad words,” adding that it was done as a joke.
Stanley Cup winners, Pittsburgh Penguins, have kicked off their training camp for the NHL season, and the Russian forward wants it to be as successful as the previous ones.
“That was last year. I want to win one more time, two, three more times. I have 10 fingers on my hands, and I want to win 10 times. Why not? I want to win a couple more trophies, a Hart Trophy. We have a good chance to win. Why not? We're young kids,” he said.
The 23-year-old was one of the main reasons behind the Pen’s success. Malkin got the Art Ross Trophy as the regular-season scoring champion with 113 points, and the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP after finishing third in the postseason with 36 points in 24 games.
He lost out only in votes for the Hart Trophy to his fellow countryman Aleksandr Ovechkin.
“Good players stayed on the team. We have more experience. We didn't change a lot of players. That's good for the team,” he said.
