The Kontinental Hockey League have expressed interest in organizing a game between their best players and the NHL All-Stars.

KHL president Aleksandr Medvedev told Sport-Express paper that the intercontinental challenge may be the perfect solution for North American hockey bosses who are looking for a new format of the All-Star Game.

“It’s a great idea,”
he said. “I know that many fans have actively pushed for it. But its implementation requires commitment from the NHL. We’ll talk to our partners and present this with this idea.”

Medvedev added that the KHL would be willing to stage the NHL’s regular championship games on its rinks as happens in other European countries.

“We aren’t afraid to host another league’s matches here because we believe that the more educated our fans will be, the more different styles and games they’ll see – the more popular hockey will become,” the KHL head stressed.

Last autumn, NHL sides Carolina Hurricanes and Phoenix Coyotes played friendly matches against the KHL opposition, but none of the North American teams are coming to Russia this year.

I'd go for this. Since Gary Biteme took over the All-Star games has crashed and burned that it sucks soooooo bad. My personal choice is to return it to it's beginnning format. The Stanley Cup Champs verses the NHL All-Stars. But this kind of idea may work too.
