The Continental Hockey League – KHL - which was founded in Russia just last year, has become available to a much wider TV audience.

Over a thousand games will be shown in nine countries in the upcoming season.

At the moment, the league consists of 21 teams from the Russian Federation and three from neighboring states. But since the league's inception there's been an ongoing discussion about expanding the league to at least 30 clubs.

After only a year in action, the KHL is already considered a major force in Europe, and the league's principals cherish the thought of one day rivaling the North American NHL.

The first steps are already being made through boosting of the quality of TV broadcasting, compared to last season.

RT will continue to show the highlights of the top KHL games – stay tuned!
