Jagr named best among the Hawks

Former NHL superstar Jaromir Jagr was named the best player of the KHL side Avangard Omsk in the 2008/09 season, the teams’ official website reports.

Legend Jagr quits NHL for Russia

One of the NHL’s biggest stars, Czech Jaromir Jagr, will start his next season in Russia. The New York Rangers announced they won't be signing the veteran player, and he’ll now join Avnagard of Omsk in Siberia.

Hockey legend Jaromor Jagr says he’s not planning to return to the NHL as he enjoys living in the Siberian city of Omsk and playing for local KHL club Avangard.

Jagr we miss you-- and you'll skate in Canuckland because you love your game--and yeah, there's lot's of room for you in NHL-- Phoenix could use you and you'd fit well there as a leader with young team. And your mates are there, too. They can't pay you as well, but you'd be fire on ice again. Just pretend it's Siberia with sand. Phoenix shut out the Pens-- and that's something worth considering. They also have fast skating team which you love... your style of play.
