Dynamo suffered two straight narrow losses on the road and were eager to rebound in front of their fans, while the Slovakian Lions were on top in both of their two previous encounters.
Wasting their chances in the opening period, Dynamo allowed the visitors to convert their only opportunity to take the lead.
Tomas Netik with a fake move ghosted past a defenseman and found the net with his wrist shot, 0-1.
After a probable hair-drying from Oleg Znarok in the interval, the Blue-and-Whites regained momentum and it took them four minutes to level matters.
Konstantin Gorovikov tried to put his name on the scoreboard, but his shot was blocked and Leo Komarov wasted no time to send it into the net, 1-1.
Two minutes later, and Philip Novak with a seismic slap shot on a powerplay gave Dynamo the lead, 2-1.
And the home side continued to buzz around the offensive zone enjoying their passing moves in the third.
Komarov hit Yury Babenko with a pass, who netted his third goal of the season with a powerful wrist shot.
And Dynamo added one more to make it 4-1 just 30 seconds later. Konstantin Volkov was quickest in a goalmouth scramble to send the puck home for his tenth point of the season.
“We played solid hockey in two periods and we needed this victory,” Dynamo’s Leo Komarov said. “The playoffs start in a month-and-a-half. It's still a long way to go. We focus on every game and try to win it. But we are not thinking about the playoffs at the moment. That will be a different story.”
“We were on the road and it was our first match at home this year, so we were supposed to start aggressively and take an early lead,” Komarov’s partner, Denis Tolpeko, added. “We failed, but fortunately found our game in the second period and came from behind to grab a well deserved win.”
Dynamo earned an important three points and leapfrogged Atlant to go to third in the Western Conference, while Leo Poprad now find themselves 10 points off a playoff spot.
