Italian international Fabio Grosso says he’s ready to move to Russia’s Zenit in case Italian specialist Roberto Mancini takes charge of the St Petersburg side in 2009, Le Parisien reports.
Grosso, who has 27 caps and 3 goals for his national team and who has won two French domestic titles with Olympique Lyonnaise, is said to be currently in talks with Zenit, and the factor of who will become Zenit’s new coach matters most for the 32-year-old veteran.
Grosso could move to Juventus this summer, but the transfer sum of 4 million euro, which the Turin side could afford for the defender, seemed too petty for Olympique Lyonnaise.
Meanwhile, Grosso has been eager to move somewhere else after his club signed young Ali Sissoko from FC Porto, who will most probably leave Grosso outside the team’s starting line-up for the next season.
Meanwhile, another Russian top side CSKA Moscow seem to have found a replacement for badly-missed Yury Zhirkov. The army men are closing in on signing Chilean international Mark Gonzalez from Real Betis.
The former Liverpool and Real Sociedad left winger will set the Muscovites back an estimated 6.5 million euro.
Gonzalez is expected to sign a four-year deal with CSKA. Coach Ziko is planning for the Chilean to fill the gap left by the departure of Zhirkov to Chelsea.
