Chile and CSKA Moscow winger Mark Gonzalez says his team knows how to beat favorites Brazil, whom they play in the Last 16 of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Chile qualified for the playoffs yesterday despite a 2-1 loss to Spain in their final Group H encounter.

“We’ve been dreaming about it and, fortunately, we managed to achieve the task we set. Today we, of course, hoped for a different result, but we were up against the best team in Europe, against which and, moreover, we had to play with ten men for more than half of the match,” Gonzalez told Sportbox.ru.

“Spain is very strong. They have world-class players in every line. They are, no doubt, the favorites of the World Cup… along with Brazil,” he added.

Chile will face five-time world champions Brazil in the first round of the playoffs, and Gonzalez believes that he and his partners have what it takes to create the biggest sensation of the tournament.

“Nothing is impossible. We know the Brazilians; we know how they play and what to expect from them. So, if we play our best game, we’ll beat them,” the midfielder said.

Mark Gonzalez has made appearances in all three of Chile’s group stage games, scoring the winning goal and being named the Man of the Match in the clash with Switzerland.
