UEFA decides on CSKA doping case

CSKA Moscow defenders Alexey Berezutsky and Sergey Ignashevich, who were accused of using doping, were punished only by one match disqualification by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body.
The players have already served the ban, as they missed their club’s UEFA Champions League clash against Besiktas on Match Day 6.
So the two Army Men key defenders will be able to help their team in the first round of the tournaments playoffs in February.
CSKA were fined for €25,000 for violating UEFA’s anti-doping rules.
Appeals against the decision may be filed within three days.
The doping tests taken after the Match Day 4 Champions League game against Manchester United detected forbidden Sudafed medication, the use of which the CSKA doctors forgot to notify the relevant authorities.
In the worst case, the players would be threatened with disqualification for up to two years.
