The Tottenham Hotspur boss wants Roman Pavlyuchenko to stay with his team next year, but says the Russian striker needs to improve his English to do better on the pitch, Sportinglife.com reports.

"Of course, I want to keep all my best players. He's done okay, to be fair. He scored some decent goals at home, but I feel he is capable of more because he is an excellent player. There is more adjusting to do, but technically he is a top-class player. Sometimes he gets brushed off too easily, and has to work harder for the team," Harry Redknapp said.

A second half strike from substitute Pavlyuchenko gave Tottenham a 1-0 win in Sunday’s London derby against West Ham, which secured Premier League safety for Redknapp's men.

The coach also said he wants the Russian to improve his English as quickly as possible.

"You’ve always got his interpreter running around the training ground," quipped the Tottenham manager.

"Sometimes you pass the ball through the middle, and the interpreter chases it! It’s difficult and speaking the language would make a difference,” he said.

Russian international Roman Pavlyuchenko joined English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur from Spartak Moscow back in summer. He has scored 14 goals in different tournaments for the club.
