Brazilian defender Roberto Carlos has invited Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho to become his coach at Russian side, Anzhi Makhachkala.
“I had a conversation with Real’s head coach, Jose Mourinho,” Roberto Carlos told Spain’s Marca newspaper. “He said that he has a working agreement with the club, and he’s not planning to go anywhere. I just told him that if he changes his mind, there’s a project called Anzhi where he’s awaited with open arms because he is the best coach in the world.”
Roberto Carlos, who played for Real in 1996–2007 and won three domestic and as many Champions League titles, visited the Spanish capital on Sunday.
The 38-year-old was a special guest at the Los Blancos home match against Levante (4-2) and received an award from Real’s president, Florentino Perez, for his contribution to the club’s past successes.
According to media reports, Anzhi’s current coach, Yury Krasnozhan, who joined the Makhachkala side only in January and has not overseen a single official game yet, is already on the brink of leaving the club after a conflict with Roberto Carlos and Samuel Eto’o.
Some papers have also linked Fabio Capello’s unexpected parting with the English national team to the possible vacancy in the high paying Makhachkala team.
