Even a draw will satisfy Real Madrid’s coach, Jose Mourinho, as his team prepares to take on CSKA away in freezing Moscow in the Last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Subzero temperatures welcomed Jose Mourinho's team as they took to the Luzhniki pitch ahead of Tuesday's encounter. Around minus 10 degrees Celsius

The current La Liga leaders have a stunning array of talent at their disposal, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Mesut Ozil their attacking options.

However, the Portuguese expects a tough match against CSKA, a team he has come up against on a number of occasions.

“I faced CSKA not only when I was the head coach of Inter, but also with Chelsea back in 2004,” Mourinho said. “They have a very stable squad, which has been together for a number of years, such as Sergey Ignashevich, the Berezutsky brothers, Evgeny Aldonin and Davidas Shemberas. Wagner Love may have left, but they have brought in Seydou Doumbia and Akhmed Moussa. They are a strong side and it's no coincidence that they always qualify for the Champions League and make it out of the group stages.”

Real have been in stunning form this season in all competitions. The King’s Club have only lost three times, while they have managed to score a stunning 79 goals in only 23 games in La Liga, where they currently enjoy a 10-point lead over archrivals Barcelona.

Mourinho does have a few injury worries ahead of the game, with Lassana Diarra and Angel di Maria both missing out on the trip to Moscow through injury. However, the 49-year-old says he has plenty of strength in depth.

“We will certainly not be resting our top players on Tuesday, as it's going to be a tough match,” he stressed. “However, we have a great squad and a number of top players to choose from. Fabio Coentrao or Marcello could play or I have the chance to pick Gonzalo Huiguan or Karim Benzema.”

“Our goal is a positive result, a win or a score draw,” he added.

Mourinho commented that the synthetic pitch is not really to his liking, as he feels it is very different to playing on a natural grass surface, while with the temperature being well below freezing will also be difficult to get used to. Minus 10C temperatures are expected in the Russian capital, when the game kicks off on Tuesday.

However, defender Favbio Coentrao is not particularly worried about the weather. Rather about CSKA, who he believes will be tough opponents.

“The cold is the last thing we are thinking about at the moment,” he said. “We have a really difficult match ahead of us on Tuesday. If we start thinking about the artificial pitch or the cold weather than that will be really bad for us. We must make sure we are concentrating fully when the game gets underway.”

Real will start as hot favorites when the match gets underway, despite being weary of a CSKA side, who will have the backing of a packed to capacity Luzhniki Stadium.

And despite the wonderful array of talent at his disposal, Mourinho has spelled out clearly that his side needs to be at the top of their game if they are going to come away from this encounter with the victory he so desperately wants.
