The opening games of the second half of the Russian Premier League season didn’t bring any surprises with favorites Rubin, Spartak Moscow and CSKA winning their matches.

Tom 2-3 CSKA

Milosh Krasic was the hero for the army’s men right from the off. With almost 30 minutes gone, the Serb played a beautiful one-two to carve open the Tomsk side before calmly slotting home.

And then the strong-running Krasic set up Alan Dzagoev for the second threading the ball through to the youngster, who skillfully dank the ball into the corner.

A free kick from Goran Maznov pulled one back for Tomsk early in the second half.

But again, Krasic's pace caused all sorts of problem for Tom. This time he set up Ricardo Jesus at the far post to restore CSKA's two-goal cushion.

But it still wasn’t over. A foul near CSKA goal gave Dmitry Michkov a chance to convert from the spot from Tomsk.

But that was all the Tomsk side was able to do this evening.

Spartak Moscow 4-0 Kuban

Elsewhere, Spartak Moscow moved to within a point of leaders Rubin with a 4-0 win over Kuban.

The red-and-whites dominated the entire game. Spartak needed 21 minutes to open the scoring, as Artur Tlisov scored his own goal after a free kick from Alex.

Early in the second, Welliton grabbed a brace in the space of less than ten minutes. First, the Brazilian received a pinpoint pass from Bystrov and converted his rendezvous with Kuban keeper into the goal. Then he had a bit of luck, as the ball after his shot rebounded off the defender's leg past the keeper.

In the dying moments of the game, Vladimir Bystrov completed the rout, giving his side a 4-0 win.

Rubin 2-0 Spartak Nalchik

Earlier on Friday, league leaders Rubin were in action and got a 2-0 victory over Spartak Nalchik.

The first goal came after Aleksandr Bukharov tripped in the penalty area, and before the ref could award a spot kick, Gekdeniz Karadeniz kept his cool to finish the effort.

And with the final whistle fast approaching, Bukharov did earn a penalty for the hosts, when he was brought down by the keeper.

Alejandro Dominguez stepped up to convert a late penalty.

Rubin are still atop the league with Spartak Moscow just one step behind.

Terek 1-2 FC Moscow

FC Moscow once again overtook CSKA in the league. They broke back into the top three following a 2-1 win at Terek.

But the citizens drew first blood only on 62 minutes. Edgaras Chesnauskis set up Zvonimir Vukich for their opener.

And about ten minutes later Chesnauskis himself got on the end of Aleksandr Samedov's cross to head home their second.

The hosts got one back courtesy of Shamil Lakhiyalov, as the ball deflected from a defender.

But the Musovites survived their late rush to seal the three points.
