It turns out Russian international Roman Pavlyuchenko isn’t content with just playing on a pitch, and has now successfully completed a degree at the Moscow University of Physical Culture, the player’s website reports.

The striker, who spent 26 minutes on the field during Russia’s 2-0 win over Finland in Helsinki, took a plane to Moscow straight after the game.

At 8:30 in the morning the next day he was already in the university together with the other students. The 27-year-old presented a project aimed at increasing the effectiveness of set pieces in football and answered the questions from his professors after that.

Pavlyuchenko has a lot to say on the issue as he is known for scoring directly from free-kicks and putting in headers after corners.

“I think I wasn’t that nervous, even when I first came out to play for the Russian team,” Super-Pav confessed.

The striker will be awarded his Diploma of Higher Education on June 30, and he will certainly be in Moscow for the occasion.

“I can’t miss such a wonderful event in my life,” he said.

Meanwhile, some less pleasant news came from London, where Pavlyuchenko plays for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Sun newspaper reports, Spurs coach Harry Redknapp has filed a blacklist to the club’s bosses of 14 players that he wants to get rid of this summer, and the Russian player is on it.

Redknapp had a lot of complaints about the Russian international during the whole season, saying he’s not giving his best in training as well as refusing to learn English.

Roman Pavlyuchenko joined the London side from Spartak Moscow for ₤14 million last summer after his great performance at Euro 2008, where he scored three goals and reached the semis together with his teammates.

The striker scored five goals in the Premier League and nine goals in the Cups after his arrival. He says he enjoys living in the English capital and has recently bought a house there.

Two other expensive players who, according to Redknapp, have no future in Tottenham are David Bentley and Darren Bent.
