All the Week 18 Russian Premier League matches were played out on Sunday, with Lokomotiv getting their third win in a row. They defeated cross-town rivals CSKA thanks to a controversial late winner from Dmitry Sychev.
It was a cracking atmosphere at the fully-packed Lokomotiv stadium, as 25,000 spectators were awaiting another chapter of one of the biggest rivalries in Russian football.
The home side were nervous at the begging, creating trouble for themselves, with goalkeeper Guilherme working hard to clear the danger.
But by the end of the first half, Loko got into the game and scored. Denis Glushakov chested down to Diniyar Bilyletdinov, whose half-volley was perfect – 1-0 in the 43rd minute.
CSKA were a better side after the restart. In order to freshen things up, Zico introduced his recent signing, Mark Gonzalez.
And the former Liverpool midfielder made his presence felt just minutes after coming on, as his cross was blasted in by Alan Dzagoev, 1-1.
The game then opened up and chances started to appear one after another.
Guilherme parried a shot from CSKA’s Milos Krasic before Dmitry Sychev had a great opportunity to win it for Loko. He beat the offside trap to go one-to-one with Igor Akinfeev, but sent his shot wide.
Sychev would've been a villain for Loko's fans, but he got another chance to shine minutes later.
And this time he made no mistake, giving his side a win in the injury time. But CSKA would like to have a word with the referee, as Sychev appeared to be in an offside position.
“I feel sorry to lose this game. We played very well and should've scored more. I'm sure though Sychev was offside when he scored. Everyone I talked to after the game agreed he had been offside,” Zico, CSKA boss, said.
Referee Layushkin though, pointed at the centre, presenting 3 points to Lokomotiv.

Spartak Moscow 2-1 FC Moscow
Another Moscow derby, and Spartak said they would lodge a complaint against the ref, despite beating FC Moscow 2-1.
The Red-and-Whites coach, Valery Karpin, claims Aleksey Nikolayev let two FC Moscow players get away with yellow cards where they should have been sent off.
These moans aside, it was teenager Pavel Yakovlev, who opened the scoring right before the break, posting his first-ever goal for Spartak.
Soon after the interval, Zvonimir Vukić put the Citizens back level, thanks to a neat cross by Alexandr Samedov.
Spartak got the win when Evgeny Makeev saw the ball hit the woodwork a couple of times and then bounce right into the goal with minutes to go.
A moment of joy for Karpin, who said he would call for a long-term ban for the ref.
Rubin Kazan 4-0 Terek Grozny
League leaders Rubin continue their reign at the top, earning their third straight victory in dominant fashion against the visiting Terek.

Amkar Perm 2-4 Zenit St Petersburg
Zenit, led by substitute coach Anatoly Davydov after Dick Advocaat’s dismissal last week, came from two goals down to defeat Amkar. A high-scoring affair in Perm saw the visitors faring well in their first game without Dick Advocaat.
Things didn’t start too well for the St Pete side though, with Bulgarian Martin Kushev torching Zenit's defense for a quick 2-0 lead 15 minutes into the first half.
Igor Semshov and Igor Denisov, however, were instrumental in bringing their team back, tying the game heading into the break.
Semshov struck again in the second, following up a goal by Hungarian Szabolcs Huszti with another one of his own, for a comprehensive 4-2 win.
Saturn Moscow Region 1-0 Spartak Nalchik
Mid-table side Saturn took care of business against the league's bottom-dwellers Spartak Nalchik at home.
Vladimir Kuzmichev scored the only goal of the night in the 76th minute, after both sides failed to take advantage of their chances in the opening half.

Bottom side Khimki were thumped by Krylia Sovietov. The hosts got an early lead, but it was their only success of the night, as a goal from Czech giant Jan Koller and two more from Timofev Kalachev saw the Samara team winning convincingly.
The result made Krylia coach Leonid Sloutsky, who announced his retirement during the week, change his mind and stay with the team.
“The only constraining factor is the team, which I formed and shaped myself. The team which believes me and does everything to support me,” Leonid Sloutsky explained to Sport-Express newspaper.
Tom Tomsk 1-0 Kuban Krasnodar
Another low-scoring encounter took place in Siberia, with Tom escaping with a 1-0 win against third-from-bottom Kuban.
