From now on Andrey Arshavin is not only a football player, but also a geographic location. A luxury village in his home town of St. Petersburg has been named after the Arsenal playmaker.
The Russian international himself will be granted a piece of land in the newly established elite settlement on the shores of Lake Otradnoye.
The construction of a helipad is also on the drawing board.
The proposed name of the village is “Arshavinka”.
The presentation of the project is scheduled for March 2010, but the developers still have to get Arshavin’s permission to use his name.
“I officially announce that no one conducted any negotiations on my participation in this project with me. The PR-director of the builders contacted my representative in Russia only after the article was published,” Andrey Arshavin told on his official website.
Andrey Arshavin is in his second year with English Premier League side Arsenal.
The 28-year-old played 18 games and scored seven goals for the Gunners this season.
