Belarusian police have come up with an original proposal for tackling football hooliganism, offering to become the organizer of boxing competitions for the fans eager to fight.
“It’s no secret that in different cities of Belarus there are groups of aggressive young men who learn martial arts and have a very good physical shape. They are not that into football. Their main target is to start a brawl,” Vitaly Sinyakov from the Belarus Internal Ministry told Pressball newspaper.
According to the police, they’ll be happy to organize competitions in boxing and other martial arts for those pseudo-fans and watch them show off their skills.
The reply from the ruffians has not yet been revealed.
The police initiative comes after around 80 fans clashed ahead of the MTZ-Ripo – Dinamo Brest match in capital Minsk on August 30. Nine people ended up in hospital after the incident.
