Despite disappointment with the outcome of his Lazio move, CSKA midfielder Keisuke Honda says he’s still eager to give all he's got to help the Moscow squad succeed.
On Monday, the Japanese star arrived at CSKA’s training camp in Marbella, Spain after treatment in a Barcelona hospital.
“I’m back with the team,” Honda told the Sport-Express. “Things are getting better, although sometimes I still feel pain. But I hope it will soon pass. I want to join the starting lineup as soon as possible.”
According to Italian media reports, Serie A side Lazio offered the Muscovites €12 million for the 25-yaer-old transfer, but the sum wasn’t enough to satisfy CSKA’s management.
“I must admit, I wanted to go to Lazio,” the player confessed. “But now it makes no sense to talk about it. I’m with CSKA and I will do my best to help the team. I missed football, and I Intend to return to the game quickly.”
One of Asia’s top footballers, Honda joined CSKA from Dutch club VVV-Venlo in 2010. Due to different health problems he’s made just 47 appearances for the Moscow team, scoring 13 goals.
The Japanese international’s stay may become a significant boost for CSKA, who prepare to take on Real Madrid of the UEFA Champions League later in February.
