It looks as if Guus Hiddink may have another chance to prove he still has the magic touch. The Dutchman's agent states he will “definitely stay” on as Russian manager
Good news Guus is to stay with Russia's team!!! Though, just maybe it wouldn't be that bad if he would accept an offer from Manchester City? That could help Russia to recover a bit.
Meslin it wasnt 7 million people.....Slovenia has slightly less than 2 million people, it would barely make 3rd spot as a city in Russia, but its good to see you know your geography when giving your opinion
I would have appreciated my last comment to be published. Even if it is not the point of the message, being taken for an ignorant by one commentator is not pleasant and I don't do that to others. My encyclopedia say: Slovenia: 1997000 ha. about 10 years ago. I was analysing France and Russia's performances. One cheated to qualify, the other, with a supposed to be great coach could not beat a tiny country. I know the subject well enough to stick on my comment, even if I don't know Mr Hiddink. I do not judge his competences, I only question the set-up with the russian federation. Conclusion: What Dan wrote humiliate russian football, three times more than what I wrote. Sincerely...Jean-Claude Meslin

I have been a decent footbal player, coached that sport during my stay in the USA. With other europeans, mostly working for the Boeing Co. I participated in the soccer's evolution in the ameican and canadian Norh-West thru the NASL (North-American-Soccer-League) from 1969 to 1984. I am sorry for Mr Hiddink but when a tiny country of 6 or 7 millions peoples beat one of 140, something is wrong with the managing and the coaching staff. Moreover if the decisions' makers coach an other team located over 3000 km away. This should have been obvious to the russian federation, long time ago. In a precedent comment, publised several weeks, before Russia's elimination, I wrote practically the same text and suggested than this country stick with Hockey if she could not beat Slovenia. Personnally if I lived such an adventure, I shall hide in a mouse's hole and forget about football. Sincerely. Jean-Claude Meslin
