It looks as if Guus Hiddink may have another chance to prove he still has the magic touch. The Dutchman's agent states he will “definitely stay” on as Russian manager
This is despite being linked with a number of high profile clubs in recent days.
For the first time in his almost three-decade long managerial career – Hiddink failed to take a national team he was coaching into a major championship this year as Russia fell to Slovenia at the final step for World Cup 2010.
The 63-year-old himself has kept tight-lipped on his future, but his agent Cees Van Nieuwenhuizen has been quick to distance his client from reported offers from Manchester City and Juventus.
Hiddink's contract with Russia expires on August 1, 2010, but van Nieuwenhuizen stresses he will remain at the helm for at least two more years.
"He is contracted until next summer, but there is an offer for him to stay for two more years, and I think he will definitely stay," he told The Daily Telegraph adding: “Guus is happy with Russia. Definitely.”

Meslin it wasnt 7 million people.....Slovenia has slightly less than 2 million people, it would barely make 3rd spot as a city in Russia, but its good to see you know your geography when giving your opinion

I would have appreciated my last comment to be published. Even if it is not the point of the message, being taken for an ignorant by one commentator is not pleasant and I don't do that to others. My encyclopedia say: Slovenia: 1997000 ha. about 10 years ago. I was analysing France and Russia's performances. One cheated to qualify, the other, with a supposed to be great coach could not beat a tiny country. I know the subject well enough to stick on my comment, even if I don't know Mr Hiddink. I do not judge his competences, I only question the set-up with the russian federation. Conclusion: What Dan wrote humiliate russian football, three times more than what I wrote. Sincerely...Jean-Claude Meslin
