Ex-CSKA boss finds job in Ukraine

Former CSKA Moscow boss, Valery Gazzaev, seems to have fond a new job. Russia’s Sport Express newspaper reports that he’ll take charge of Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk next summer.
Gazzaev, who worked with CSKA for six seasons, is planning to have some rest for the next half a year and get acquainted with Ukrainian league.
He’s already started as he was noticed in Catalonia at Shakhtar’s last Champions League game against Barcelona, which the Ukrainian’s won 3-2.
The coach and Shakhtar’s owner, Rinat Akhmetov, have already negotiated the move and the contract is expected to be signed during the winter.
All of Gazzaev assistants at CSKA will travel to Donetsk with him.
Shakhtar is one of Ukraine’s ‘big two’, but the team has suffered some poor results this year under Romanian coach Mircea Lucescu. They failed to qualify for the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League and are currently fifth in the domestic league.
Rinat Akhmetov said Lucescu, who did a lot for the club, will work till the end of his contract and retire in the summer after the end of 2008/09 season.
Gazzaev had the best period of his coaching career at CSKA, leading the Army Men to Russian Premier League titles in 2003, 2005 and 2006. He also guided the club to the UEFA Cup title in the 2004-2005, making CSKA the first Russian team to win a European tournament since the fall of the Soviet Union.
