CSKA Moscow looks to have a battle on their hands if they want to hold on to star striker Keisuke Honda.
The Japanese midfielder is now on the radar of a whole host of English clubs after helping his country reach the Last 16 of the World Cup Finals in South Africa.
British newspaper the Daily Telegraph reported that Arsenal and Liverpool are aiming to snap up Honda before the start of the new season.
The 24-year-old's agent, Kees Ploegsma, confirmed the interest, but added that CSKA haven't received any concrete offers.
“There are several clubs interested, but so far nothing has happened regarding a formal offer… I don’t know if CSKA Moscow will let him leave, or what sort of money they will be asking. Discussions will take place when a club makes a formal offer for the player,” he told the paper.
The Army Men picked up Honda from Dutch side VVV-Venlo on a four year deal last December.
His star has risen significantly since then. The midfielder netted the goal that granted CSKA a place in the Champions League quarterfinals, and then scored twice in South Africa, including the winner against Cameroon in Japan's opening group game.
