In an interview with British Sky Sports channe,l Zenit St Petersburg representatives expressed their confidence in the positive ending of negotiations with the London club.

At the weekend Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger, described Arshavin as a “high class player” and admitted that Arsenal were in discussion with Zenit.

The London side is in desperate need of a high class midfielder after Spaniard Cesc Fabregas received a serious injury.

The only obstacle to the move is Arshavin’s high transfer price. Zenit wants ₤ 20 million for the player, while Arsenal are ready to pay only ₤ 12 million.

Other clubs linked with Arshavin include Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur and a trio of Italian giants, AC Milan, Inter and Juventus.
