On May 30 Russian giant Nikolay Valuev will defend his WBA heavyweight title against the only man that's ever beaten him, Ruslan Chagaev of Uzbekistan.
The bout will take place either in Germany or Finland. The unbeaten Uzbek deprived Valuev of his WBA belt on a majority decision two years ago. However, a long-standing injury prevented him from defending the crown. The Uzbek made his return to the ring on February 7, 2009, defeating Costa Rican Carl Davis Drumond.
Valuev beat John Ruiz last August to reclaim the title and went on to defend it against Evander Holyfield.
The Russian Giant boasts an enviable record of 50 wins and only one loss, and said he was happy to learn he would be able to make amends for his sole professional defeat.
“I have been waiting for this day for two years,” Nikolay Valuev said, “I will finally make amends for the only loss of my career.”
