CSKA Moscow were shocked by Galatasaray in the Euroleague basketball as the Istanbul outfit handed the Army Men their first loss on the continent this season.
That was arguably the biggest win ever for the Turkish club, who ended the Russians' 13-game winning streak.
The home team's Luksa Andric set the early tone with a vicious fast break dunk over Andrey Kirilenko. The 27-year-old would finish with the second-most points for his side, scoring 16.
Joshua Shipp was the man leading the way with 22, but the Army Men were determined to make the game come down to the final moments.
Trailing just three points, CSKA had 10.2 seconds to force an overtime. Serbian point guard Milos Teodosic was fouled while throwing a three-pointer. But he missed two out of three crucial free throws with six seconds left, which gave the home team another chance.
Shipp would then close out the 68-64 win from the foul line himself. The Army Men do, however, still lead the pack in their Top 16 group.
“No one likes to lose. Every team tries to run a tournament distance as well as possible, but… Well, the most important now is to understand what we have done wrong, and correct our mistakes. Then you could say that the team has made a step up,” said CSKA coach Jonas Kazlauskas.
