ISIS-ting Assad? Ft. Afzal Ashraf, Consultant Fellow, Royal United Services Institute
The US-led strikes against ISIS in Iraq and Syria have been going on for about a year without any significant results. Although there is a realization that the extremists cannot be defeated with air power alone, there are disagreements regarding whether ground troops should be deployed. Could the US and Russia overcome their differences to create an effective international coalition against ISIS, and should the Assad government have a role in the effort? Oksana is joined by Afzal Ashraf, a Consultant Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute, to examine these issues.
