Iceland embraces refugees & urban gardening helps the homeless (E093)
In this episode of Watching the Hawks, Tyrel and Tabetha open with a heart-warming story: how Icelanders have signed a petition to open up their country to 12,000 Syrian refugees. Tabetha brings us news from Atlanta, where a shelter is helping people to tend gardens and grow food for themselves on the roof of the shelter’s building. Tyrel updates us on female army rangers as the US Army opts to accept all qualified candidates to its Ranger School. Emily Lindin of the UnSlut Project talks about her memoir and recent film, which aims to end slut shaming in society. Tabetha discusses Darlene Arviso who is known as the “Water Lady” on a Navajo Nation reservation in New Mexico. She brings water to residents every single day.
