Rickards and Pettifor: US weaker than the numbers imply

The markets dropped precipitously on Friday despite a stellar 5.1 percent unemployment number in the US. That 5.1 percent was the lowest in seven years and puts the unemployment rate right in the Fed’s range between 5.0 and 5.2 percent for long-term sustainable unemployment for the economy. Edward Harrison weighs in. Erin Ade sits down with Jim Rickards – chief global strategist at West Shore Funds – to talk about the US economy.

After the break, Bianca Facchinei takes a look at the rate of Americans who’ve defaulted on their student loans. Ameera David is joined by Ann Pettifor – director of PRIME Economics – to talk about the US and Canada. And in The Big Deal, Edward and Erin Ade discuss Saudi King Salman’s visit to the White House.
