A special commission has started a check of the interior department in southern Russia’s Krasnodar region, after a local police detective issued videos disclosing abuses of power by local law enforcement authorities.

This police officer should not have been fired. He did great service for his country by coming out the way he did. Media, and electronic media-you Tube included, is powerful and if used effectively it can facilitate important changes. I am convinced that this officer's action will result reducing corruption in Russian police. Russia- as the inheritor of the Soviet legacy- has survived the invasion of the Third Reich and the end of Soviet Union but the modern Russia cannot survive widespread culture of corruption. My hope is that this courageous officer will not be harmed physically- for he is already paying the economically his courageous stand. Yes, he should have been relieved of his official duties- until his allegations were either substantiated or are being proven to be false but firing him because claims of slander is strange. This action makes very little legal and or logical sense.
