President Yushchenko's lobbying for an independent Ukrainian church is an intervention of the state into church affairs, said Father Filipp (Ryabykh), a spokesperson for the Russian Orthodox Church.

“Political idea”? Name another country other than Ukraine with an Orthodox Church of at least 25 million that is a millennium old that does not have an independent patriarchate? If anyone is “political” it is the Moscow CHURCH.
