It is pretty clear that Ukraine fought against us. This should make us wake up and apply effort where there is a better return. Not sending a representative was a good move. We should try it with other east european anti Russian orientated nations. We should also look closely at reducing economic cooperation, and obtain inputs from alternative states that are not operating in an anti Russian mode. Sometimes you need to stop talking for a while, rather than try to talk through the issues. There are a huge number of states out there to work with. Also Ukraine would be far happier commercially dealing with Europe, so it would be a win win for both of us.

I very much fear that if one replaces the words "Ukraine Defense Ministry" with "USA Pentagon", then the story will remain the same. What exactly were our contract soldiers doing in Georgia last August? Hm?

this action is a pitiful reflection on the Ukrainian leadership and i hope that Ukrainians see what Russians apparently understand - you debase yourself and your nation if you pretend to do the bidding of American imperialism. As a westerner sympathetic to both Russians and Ukrainians I can tell you that dropping yourself at the feet of the Americans and NATO is an awful sight !!!

I noticed that American military advisors began arriving in Georgia as soon as Saakashili was elected, which was the time I made my business trips to Tbilisi. Their primary purpose, as far as I could tell, was to ingratiate themselves with Georgian military personnel and lay the groundwork for full scale military assistance program. Georgia is part of an American effort to subvert and eventually emasculate Russia by infiltrating their influence into all of the republics of the former USSR. I have seen US military advisors in other republics of the former USSR, the Baltic republics for example; however, what I saw in Georgia was quite different from the usual pattern. The US military advisors in Georgia seemed to have been very closely imbedded with the Georgian military and I had a sense that these advisors were actually directing the policy of the Georgian military - probably at the behest of Saakashvili. My own impression is that the US military advisors played a close role in advising the Georgians on how to plan, initiate and carry out their attack on South Ossetia. I don't believe the Georgians would have been able to carry out their attack without close US logistical support. But, I might be wrong in my impression. Had Saaksahvili's invasion of S. Ossetia succeeded, America would have been praised to high heavens by the Georgian people. But, as soon as the Russian counter attack crushed the invading Georgians, the American advisors evaporated from the combat zone and bars of Tbilisi. Saaksahvili overplayed his hand to the detriment of American interests in Georgia, because many Georgians now view the Americans as too cowardly to confront to the Russians, and are questioning the worth of Saakashvili's close relationship with America.
