A promotional campaign aimed at attracting tourists to the Latvian capital has kicked off with a major gaffe, when media were presented example posters proudly stating: “Riga city – easy to go, hard to live.”

I wonder what is it about the Russian psychology that assigns such a helplessly funny, deeply significant world news story -- and one that is not even the least bit spiteful or mocking -- about one of its small Baltic neighbours to the front page of its "Top Stories" news section?
