The Israeli bus battle of the sexes

Women’s rights are being taken for a ride by a minority of ultra-Orthodox Jews in Israel. Female followers are often forced to sit at the back of buses in their own specially segregated section.
They are taking their religion to unrealistic lengths.....fanatics. Surely catching a bus is simply that - nothing more. I think it is just a way of making women feel that they are lesser beings than these so called proper religious men. If they are so pure and holy then they can keep their minds on the business at hand!
Actually this story is very misleading. I live in Jerusalem and whenever I have ridden any public Egged bus, I have never had to sit in the back. Seating is mixed, even in religious neighborhoods. There are a few bus lines which are operated for a specific orthodox congregation which requires that passengers abide by these rules, but they are the exception, not the norm. It seems more pressing to me why younger people don't give up their seats to the elderly on a crowded bus. I say 'Youth in back, the elderly in front!"

What a great story told so well by Ms Slier. If the religious men are so out of control their wives should be concerned and keep locked up at home.
