FSB has prevented 97 acts of terrorism and has destroyed 200 militants and leaders of illegal armed units.

Such results of the past year were presented by the head of FSB Alexander Bortnikov at a meeting with journalists on the Day of employees of state security bodies on December 18.

Bortnikov has noticed that about 900 people have been charged with terror and extremist acts; 23 members of Hizb ut-Tahrir international terrorist organisation have been sentenced to various terms of imprisonment; five activists of the radical Islamic Party of Turkestan (former Islamic movement of Uzbekistan) have been detained and extradited.

In the North Caucasus the criminal activity of more than 680 militants has been stopped. In particular, employees of the FSB have managed to detain several people who were financing certain terrorist organisations.
