Arab League's Syria mission slammed from all sides

Over 500 Syrian anti-regime protesters were released on Thursday as Damascus makes moves to comply with the Arab League’s peace plan. But while the League’s observer mission is to file its first report, pressure on the monitors is increasing.

Arab Parliament calls for withdrawal of observers from Syria

The Arab Parliament, an Arab advisory body, has urged the Arab League to terminate the monitors’ mission in Syria, saying the mission has failed to end the bloodshed in the country.

Syria: One-eyed quest for democracy

The first Arab League accounts of what is going on in Syria have been met with both widespread disbelief and discontent. Experts say the opposition only wants to hear what falls in its version of the events.

‘Syrian verdict will be pre-ordained’

The Syrian government has released 755 detainees as Arab League monitors continue their mission to stop nine months of violence that has killed thousands. However, doubts remain on both sides that the observers can provide a neutral verdict.

Libya: Collapse of justice leaves at least 7,000 behind bars

With their common enemy dead and gone, the uniting factor which bound Libya’s former rebels in their fight against Muammar Gaddafi has melted away. Now, in-fighting among the different armed factions is spilling onto the streets.

From Tripoli to Damascus: Arab wild geese take wing

‘Libyan Islamists welcome pluralism in new regime’

As Libyan revolutionary troops continue their assault on the town of Sirte, one of the last Gaddafi holdouts, fears are growing of a possible rise in Muslim extremism in Libya. Analyst John Feffer, however, dismissed such concerns.

Syria's opposition has rounded on the Arab League observer mission whose presence has failed to quell a government crackdown. They say the League is giving succour to Assad’s regime, and are urging the UN to approve a Libya-style no-fly zone.

The Cairo-based body denies its observers are being misled by either side, and says the accusations are pre-emptive. The League claims its mission has made Damascus compromise by pulling its tanks out of civilian areas, and releasing more than 3,000 prisoners in recent weeks.

Richard Spencer, a founder and co-editor of the online magazine AlternativeRight.Com, says the opposition is taking its lead from Libya and using foreign forces to help propel itself.

“This is once again an example of rebels who will want to make a deal with the United States and use their power to topple their enemies,” he told RT. “In many ways the UN remains a tool of the global American order.”

Spencer noted that the Libyan situation accelerated once America said it would enforce a no-fly zone.

“Once that ball gets rolling, so to speak, it’s ultimately going to eventuate in regime change, war and rebels being lifted up to a new position after their enemy is taken out,” he said.

With old ways forgotten, indigenous communities turn desperate

Khabarovsk Region, in the country's Far East, is home to Russians, Ukrainians, Tartars and even Koreans. The area's indigenous population is adapting to a shrinking world, where cultures and people increasingly mix.

The Syrian opposition had my respect until they started killing their own police and security forces who are their national government representatives, then made it worse by allowing foreign western mercenaries and military traitors to enter into the bloodbath, again killing their own people.

The Syrian government has made some mistakes by overreacting in some incidents in the earlier beginnings of this internal matter, yet for decades has been targetted by western elements targeting it as a chess piece toward destroying Irans economic, military and resistance powers against know western economic colonialism.

And, looking at the history of Iran's struggle against western and European economic colonialism which dates back some 400-years of greed and mass-economic deprivation by colonial UK and others there is no wonder the Iranian nation is again at the point of a violent struggle for nationalism and freedom.

The Syrian People must stand with their government and prevent a western NATO bombing campaign that will leave them in the thousands dead and irradiated with banned weapons and other military poisons.

Just look at Vietnam, Iraq and Libya and you will realize that the best way to bring about change is to engage your government without foreign interference and without weapons; it's a long and difficult struggle on the road to change, but nothing worthwhile is easy and your government is still your only safety against what is coming from external powers who can care less about how you feed your families or bury your dead.
