Ukraine may be using the H1N1 virus as a means of political manipulation, said investigative journalist and RT contributor Wayne Madsen.

“What happened in Ukraine is the government of Victor Yushchenko thought about postponing the [presidential] election scheduled for January to May,” Madsen told RT.  “After a popular outcry from the opposition, it was decided not to do that.”

“It is known that Yushchenko is not that popular, so it might have been an attempt to try to put some distance between January and May where he could build some popular support amid the crisis,” he explained.
